Just up the street from Transformer on 14th St you can check out another art event at Harmon Art Lab! It's the opening reception for their final show of the year with artists Ruth Trevarrow and Mark Harris. Together, these two installations pay tribute to our environment and history and comment on our relationship to our surroundings.

Ruth Trevarrow's concerns for the natural world have been realized in silhouettes of animal skeletons, which she carefully studies before making detailed drawings on paper and committing them to wood, hand-cutting the intricate skeletal structures. Read more.

Mark Harris has drawn animals and Native Americans from his childhood. For his project space installation, he will hang a large number of these drawings salon-style. In addition, the room will contain taxidermied animals, included not for shock value as much as a recognition of the art of the practice as well as respect for the animal.
