The Snows of Kilimanjaro (Les neiges du Kilimandjaro) (2011, 107 min, drama, French with English subtitles), by Robert Guédiguian – After a traumatic experience in their home, a trade unionist and his wife question the turn their lives have taken. (view trailer)
"Trade unionist and avowed socialist, Michel (Jean-Pierre Darroussin) is freshly unemployed thanks to his company’s downsizing at the shipyards where he has worked for years. Despite the setback, Michel lives happily with his wife – Marie-Claire, and he cherishes his children and grandchildren. Their relative bliss is destroyed completely after a violent break-in at their home. The incident causes them to question the turns that their lives have taken over the years – have they become too comfortable, too middle class? Have they become exactly like those rich people they used to fight?"
