It's time for the Grand Slam! This year, at GALA Hispanic Theater in Columbia Heights rather than their usual venue near Eastern Market, The Fridge. The top eight poets from the Beltway Poetry Slam season will be competing for a chance to represent DC at the National Poetry Slam in Boston in August, plus the  "world- renowned poet and Good Fairy of Badassery" Rachel McKibbens will be the featured artist... and the event will be hosted by Individual World Poetry Slam champ and Beltway team alum, Chris August.  Poets Competing: Adele Hampton, Brandi Hargette, Clint Smith, Natalie E. Illum, Pages Matam, Robalu Gibson, Spencer Retelle, Tolonda Henderson. Should be an amazing show!

Rachel McKibbens is a New York Foundation For The Arts poetry fellow, a nine-time National Poetry Slam Team member and the 2011 National Underground Poetry Individual Champion.
