Improv Nonstop Improv: Sonic Circuits & CapitalBop with Undead Music Festival at Union Arts
Sunday, May 5th
4:00pm - 6:00pm
All ages, by donation, $10 suggested
From the invite: In the mold of the "improvised round robin" performances at the Undead Music Festival, this show presents a cross-section of DC's jazz and improvised music community in an unceasing set of revolving solos and duos.
It works like this: One musician starts a solo improvisation lasting three minutes. Another musician then joins him/her for three minutes of duo improvisation. Musician #1 eventually leaves the stage and Musician #2 continues her solo for another three minutes. Then Musician #3 joins for three minutes of duo with Musician #2. This continues until all participating performers have played.
The Performers: Aaron Martin, Amy K. Bormet, Anthony Pirog, Brad Linde, Brian Settles, Dave Vosh, Gary Rouzer, Janel Leppin, Layne Garrett, Luke Stewart, Matt Dievendorf, Reginald Cyntje, Sarah Hughes, Thomas Stanley.
Many of these musicians have never played together, and the order will be determined shortly before the start time. Expect the unexpected -- as no one can know what to expect.
This is a co-presentation by the Sonic Circuits DC, CapitalBop, Union Arts, and Search & Restore. It's in collaboration with the Undead Music Festival's "Day of the DIY," a celebration of artist-run performances and performance spaces all around the country on Cinco de Mayo.
