An Experimental Art, Music, Film event at the Fridge
Friday, August 24th
7:00pm - 10:00pm
All ages, $5
EMP Collective presents an experimental one night only event that will include an exhibition with visual arts, live performance, music, and film from both the Baltimore and DC arts scene. 25 artists are involved in the making of this multimedia theatre and visual art piece about storytelling and the creation and destruction of one’s own world. These new works are all inspired by author Eduardo Galeano’s look at creation myths and origin narratives of pre-Columbian Latin America. The artists were given stories to listen to create a new work to retell in their own voice and medium, anything from performance and dance to visual art, music, and film. Art work will remain on view through Sunday, August 26th. See a list of the 25 participating artists, and learn more about the process of creating the works, on the invite.
Genesis is part of The Fridge's all art, all August "Fresh Produce"- a one-month, packed chance to access the breadth and depth of the DC arts scene with six collectives (VESTIBULE, EMP, Beltway Poetry Slam+) and 40+ artists (DECOY, ULTRA, Joseph Hale, Tim Conlon, HKS181, ASTROTWITCH, Josef Palermo+).
