About Colter Harper: As a member of Rusted Root, the multi-platinum selling, world music-influenced rock band, Colter Harper is a guitarist, percussionist and vocalist. He recorded on the band's latest album, Stereo Rodeo, and continues to perform with Rusted Root nationally. In his own intimate concerts, Colter plays Jazz, World, and other kinds of music, both on his guitar and on the delicate Spanish lute. Also called a laud, his instrument is tuned as a 12-string guitar, but several tones higher.

Harper is also a doctor of ethnomusicology and a photographer from upstate New York,  now based in Pittsburgh.  His own style of performing and composing in inspired and supported by his experiences traveling, performing, and studying in West Africa, Brazil, and Europe as well as Pittsburgh's music community.  Colter's connection with photography and art began at an early age. While in Ghana in 2000 and 2005, Colter focused on photographing music subjects associated with funeral rites, which produced two exhibits and a photo essay for the journal Contexts.
