This year, 2012, marks the 100th anniversary of the RMS Titanic's maiden voyage and her untimely collision with an iceberg. In commemoration, Fringe Festival alumni and local playwright Michael Merino is kicking off the production of his play "Hemispheric Dysfunctionalism and the Cortical  Titanic" with a special concert.

"Written and arranged by the playwright, the compositions are episodic musical vignettes that complement the upcoming play with elegiac pulses, hypnotic arpeggios, and somber, baroque phrasing. Jason McCool serves as the musical director with Sam Bean andGenna Davidson on violin, Benjamin Gates on cello, and Tom Skvarka on flute.Julia Scherer Hoock and Katharina Acosta perform as the Lorelei, singing the alto and soprano parts. As part of the evening’s entertainment, members of the cast will read scenes from the play." Hemispheric Dysfunctionalism and the Cortical Titanic is scheduled to open in October 2012 and will be directed by Kerri Rambow and Michael Merino.
