Tonight! Rainy night is a good movie night, head over to Bloombars in Columbia Heights to check out "The Story of Lover's Rock" at this weeks BloomScreen. The film (2011, 97 min), by Menelik Shabazz – Lover's Rock, often dubbed 'romantic reggae' is a uniquely black British sound that developed in London in the late 70s and 80s against a backdrop of riots, racial tension and sound systems. (view trailer). Film will be followed by discussion moderated by Mwiza Munthali, the Public Outreach Director of TransAfrica and the radio host of “Africa Now” on WPFW 89.3FM. Film starts at 7:00pm, event usually goes 'til about 9:00pm.
