Join us on NOAA’s Silver Spring, Maryland, campus for a series of free activities, including engaging talks by NOAA experts, interactive exhibits, and hands-on activities for ages 5 and up. Meet and talk with scientists, weather forecasters, hurricane hunter pilots, and others who work to understand our environment, protect life and property, and conserve and protect natural resources. Family Friendly Event in Kensington, MD
Winterfest Children's Carnival Fundraiser

The Learning Center for Young Children (LCYC) is hosting its 23rd annual Winterfest Children’s Carnival to benefit our non-profit, cooperative preschool. This family-friendly event will feature acclaimed local entertainer Frank Cassel, “The Banjo Man.” (Tickets for Cassel's performances are $3 and will be sold at the carnival.) Winterfest will also offer a wide variety of fun-filled activities for children of all ages, including a Moon Bounce, Face Painting, Arts and Crafts and Carnival Games. There will also be a Silent Auction, 50/50 Raffle, Bake Sale and more! Note: Snow date is Saturday, Feb 23rd.

Artist Talk with Forest Z. Allread at Transformer

Forest takes about his solo exhibition, "Cabinets of Curiosity", currently showing at Transformer. He'll be in in conversation with Dr. John Royer, PHD, Physicist in the Complex Fluids Group at the National Institute of Standards and Technology. The exhibit "Cabinets of Curiosity" is a site-specific installation of works at Transformer that threads and webs natural and man-made found objects inside milk crates and cigar boxes, investigating notions of the micro and the macro as related to theories of the multiverse.

All are welcome to share their musical/poetic/artistic talents at this special open mic celebration at BloomBars. Faith in Action DC is a multimedia project documenting and celebrating the community service and social justice work of diverse people of faith in the DC area.
