Lunchtime - Film Screening - Farragut North
Tuesdays at Noon screening of The Linguists, an award-winning film documenting the work of linguists K. David Harrison and Gregory Anderson. as part of the Smithsonian Folklife Festival's program "One World, Many Voices." Currently, Drs. Harrison and Anderson are directing the Enduring Voices Project at the National Geographic Society. "On average, one language disappears every two weeks. The Linguists follows David Harrison and Gregory Anderson, scientists racing to document languages on the verge of extinction. David and Greg's ‘round-the-world journey takes them deep into the heart of the cultures, knowledge, and communities at stake, in places as diverse as Siberia, India, and Bolivia." The screening will be followed by a discussion with linguists David Harrison, Gregory Anderson, and Max Chura, a speaker of Kallawaya featured in the film.
