This Saturday is the very first Figment DC, a unique, free, interactive, non-commercial, participatory arts festival created for, and by, the community! "This family-friendly event invites you to help transform this beautiful urban park into a magical artists’ playground." Personally, I am super excited about this event and recommend checking it out for a little taste of the Burning Man culture. Lots of DC area Burners and innovative, creative folks involved in this project.
FIGMENT DC is "a world created by the artists and participants who bring their imaginations to life." Over 75 artists will be participating with projects of all shapes and sizes.

"Born from the desire to share imagination and invention between artists and the public, FIGMENT began in 2007 on New York City’s Governors Island as a one-day festival with 2,600 participants and has steadily grown over the years. In 2012, FIGMENT NYC welcomed almost 24,000 participants on the island over two days. Moreover, FIGMENT has spread to Boston, Detroit, and Jackson, MS, with more cities lining up."

Costumes encouraged! FIGMENT is the perfect time to play make-believe (for both kids & adults!) Also feel free to bring kites, hula hoops, poi, croquet sets, knitting, water guns, games – anything that you want to play with or invite others to join you in!
Some suggestions before heading out: Please bring whatever you want or need for a day of outdoor, creative fun! Since this is a non-commercial event, there will not be any concessions on site, however there are a few spots you can grab food at within walking distance of the park. Please feel free to bring your own food, snacks, and anything else you want for a picnic in the park! Please refrain from bringing cooking grills, drugs, or alcohol. Please also be sure to bring your own water, or stop by the CVS to pick up some water when you get off the metro. Porta-Potties provided. Dogs are also welcome if they are friendly, but must be kept on a leash except in the dog run, and please clean up after your pooch if you bring 'em along!
