Solo exhibition by Yolanda Frederikse "Before and After the Derecho." Works by Carol MacDonald in the press room.
"The Derecho" is the term meteorologists and newspeople have been using for the intense thunderstorms that came through the Washington, DC area in early July. These storms causes severe damage, and, unfortunately, Yolanda's studio was in their path. Many of her prints made specifically for her November solo exhibition were damaged or destroyed. A true artist, Yolanda saw this as an opportunity for a unique show, which will include her traditionally idyllic prints from before the storm, and new, rawer subject matter from after the storm.
