The Talent #ShowOff event is part of the One City Youth initiative and the latest DOH effort to promote healthy outcomes among youth. By encouraging youth to “show off” their own talents and skills, the campaign aims to empower DC youth to make smart independent decisions about their health and well-being. The #ShowOff campaign’s targeted outreach will encourage youth to participate in activities that develop their leadership skills and cultivate self-awareness in their decision making.
WKYS personalities Deja Perez and Kelson will host the two hour long show. A roster of youth performers will entertain through dancing, positive rapping and poetry, coupled with a fashion show of upcoming young designers displaying their work, will give youth and young adults an exciting start to a safe and enriching school year. The event will also feature teen friendly information booths, from how to get a driver’s license, to how apply for community service hours for school. Booths include college and financial aid information, healthy lifestyle information, and afterschool and job program information.
