This event is part of Art21's Access 100 Artists, a celebration of contemporary art and Art in the Twenty-First Century, Season One through Six, sponsored by Art21.

The screening will be followed by a discussion and refreshments for audience members.

Art21 is the preeminent chronicler of contemporary art and artists through its Peabody Award-winning biennial television series Art in the Twenty-First Century. The organization has used the power of digital media to expose millions of people of all ages to contemporary art and artists and has created a new paradigm for teaching and learning about the creative process. This episode: "Romance" What role do intuition, emotion, fantasy, and escapism play in contemporary art? How do contemporary artists respond to traditionally romantic ideals such as sentimentality, pathos, and the philosophy of art for art's sake? This episode poses questions about the value of pleasure in art and features artists whose works are extended meditations on mortality, love, reality, and make-believe. Pierre Huyghe, Judy Pfaff, Lari Pittman, and Laurie Simmons are featured.

Paul McCarthy, Cindy Sherman, and Yinka Shonibare MBE are featured.
