See DC through the eyes of a local who lives in the city and is plugged into the scene. All events are free, donation-based, or $10 or less and accessible by Metro or bus in VA, MD or DC.

"Name another place in DC where you can buy fabric at $2/yard. Just try to beat artist-quality paint brushes starting at 10¢. Does the mere thought of "getting crafty" make you break out in hives? We've got stuff for you too! A full roll of gift wrap is just 50¢ and we've also got containers, some toys and games, even office supplies. Pay by cash, check or charge."
"Donate one of the following housewarming supplies and you’ll be entered in to the night’s raffle: Toilet paper, Environmentally friendly dish soap/hand soap/general cleaner, flowers for the garden, paper towels, tea, coffee, coffee maker, working cordless phone."

Metro: Brookland, walk about .4 miles or walk .6 miles from the Rhode Island Ave station Map. They are also close to the Metropolitan Branch Trail for those who wish to bike and there is a Bikeshare Station directly across the street.
