Versailles (2008, 102 min, drama, view trailer) by Pierre Schoeller – tells the story of Enzo, a homeless young boy abandoned by his mother, who forms a bond with an unlikely caretaker, Damien, who also lives outside normal society.

Bloombars, in association with the Alliance Française of Washington DC, is proud to present monthly films which highlight the best of Francophone culture. The screening will be followed by a Q&A discussion with the audience and Fedora Magnin of the Alliance Française.
About the film: A young mother Nina and her son Enzo find themselves sleeping on the streets of Paris. Their tentative lifestyle eventually leads them to Versailles. Out in the woods near the palace, they encounter a man named Damien who lives cut off from the rest of the world. Nina and Enzo decide to take refuge with him over night. The next morning, Nina appears to have disappeared. As days and seasons pass, Damien and Enzo grow fond of each other, unaware that one day they will have to leave the safe haven of their makeshift hideaway. (In French with English subtitles).
